In this course you will:• Be aware of key policy and legislation relating to health and safety in your work setting/situation• Know the main health and safety responsibilities of you, your manager and the individuals you support• Know where and from whom additional support and information relating to health and safety can be accessed• Know how to record and report issues
This course is comprised of 4 tutorials:• Overview: Health and Safety (29 screens)• Scenarios: Disability and Health and Safety (6 screens)• Learning Game - Sitting at your Workstation (5 screens)• And a Certification QuizNote: A ‘screen’ or ‘slide’ contains - content, illustrations, Flash animation, questions, interactive buttons and audio.
This course is generic and intended for all staff who work in both the Adult and Children’s workforce. Although this course forms part of an induction programme for new starters, it is also intended for all practitioners who want to improve their knowledge and continue their professional development.
This course takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes to complete.Note: There is no set time limit as it is down to how fast or slow you want to take each course and whether or not you want to take a course in one sitting or in stages.
At the end of this course is a quiz which contains questions based on the course content.The pass mark is set at 80%.Upon successful completion of the quiz the course will be marked as Complete and you will be automatically awarded and instantly emailed a personalised Certificate of Completion.You can retake the quiz at any time.
If you work or are about to start work in the Adult Workforce, this course enables you to work towards the following Common Induction Standard (Standard 8): • Be aware of key legislation relating to health and safety in your work setting/situation (8.1.1) • Understand the main points of the health and safety agreed ways of working in your work setting (8.1.2) • Know the main health and safety responsibilities of you, your manager and the individuals you support (8.1.3) • Know where and from whom additional support and information relating to health and safety can be accessed (8.1.5)

Adult Workforce: The Skills for Care Common Induction Standards provides individuals with the basic information and skills necessary for work in adult social care. The Induction Standards are mandatory for staff in the adult workforce and must be completed within 12 weeks.
