In this course you will understand:• What is a risk assessment • Why risk assessments should be undertaken• Developing a Health and Safety Policy• Prioritising your precautions• The five steps of assessing risk
This course is comprised of 4 tutorials: • Overview: Health and Safety (20 screens) • Overview: Five Steps (20 screens) • Scenario (12 screens) • And a Certification Quiz Note: A ‘screen’ or ‘slide’ contains - content, illustrations, Flash animation, questions, interactive buttons and audio.
This course is generic and intended for all staff who work in both the Adult and Children’s workforce. Although this course forms part of an induction programme for new starters, it is also intended for all practitioners who want to improve their knowledge and continue their professional development.
This course takes approximately 35 to 45 minutes to complete.Note: There is no set time limit as it is down to how fast or slow you want to take each course and whether or not you want to take a course in one sitting or in stages.
At the end of this course is a quiz which contains questions based on the course content.The pass mark is set at 80%.Upon successful completion of the quiz the course will be marked as Complete and you will be automatically awarded and instantly emailed a personalised Certificate of Completion.You can retake the quiz at any time.
If you work or are about to start work in the Adult Workforce, this course enables you to work towards the following Common Induction Standards (CIS Standard 8): • Know why it is important to assess health and safety risks posed by the work setting/situation or by particular activities (2.1) • Understand how and when to report health and safety risks that you have identified (2.2)

Adult Workforce: The Skills for Care Common Induction Standards provides individuals with the basic information and skills necessary for work in adult social care. The Induction Standards are mandatory for staff in the adult workforce and must be completed within 12 weeks.
